Raiders to Walk A loop

The Canberra Raiders will join a host of Canberra sporting identities and celebrities on Saturday December 3, as they walk a loop to help raise money for Technical Aid for the Disabled, ACT (TADACT).

TADACT is excited to announce its first BIG Charity Event “Walk A Loop” with the bridge to bridge 5km walk around Lake Burley Griffin is being held at 9pm on Friday 2 December and 8am on Saturday morning 3 December 2011.

Local identities walking the loop include Players from The Raiders, The Canberra Capitals, Futsalroo’s (National Indoor Soccer Team) and The Canberra Knights, Joe & Biggzy (MIX 106.3), Andrew Lock (First Australian to climb all 14 of the World’s Highest Mountains), Danielle Post (WIN News), Michael Milton (Paralympian), Ken Nichols (CEO of The Canberra Times) and Genevieve Jacobs (ABC Radio).

All are walking to help raise some much needed funds for such a worthwhile organisation. All money raised from this event will go towards ensuring that TADACT is able to continue providing customized equipment for kids with a disability within the Canberra region.

This includes items such as Adjustable Height Tables and Chairs for kids with Cerebral Palsy through to the very popular FREEDOM WHEELS Bikes, which are customized bikes made to suit the needs of kids with disabilities.

Raiders up and coming star Matt McIlwrick attended the media launch last week and said the players involved are looking forward to the walk.

“‘The Raiders are proud to be involved and I’m looking forward to spending some time down by the lake walking the loop,” McIlwrick said. “It’s great to see an event like Walk a Loop happening and most importantly the smiles on everyone’s faces who take part in the walk.”
