The NRL has announced a match between the Melbourne Storm and the Canberra Raiders will be played at the Lavington Sports ground on February 11, 2012.
Mike Eden from the Albury Thunder Rugby League Club Committee says Albury City and the Thunder Rugby League Club put a joint submission into the NRL to have a trial game played in Albury.
"I am very happy that we are able to have such great quality people and players come to entertain the people of Albury. It's very important that people watch and enjoy and play sport, and have something to do.
"This is a great town we have got over 100 thousand people in the area who are starved of high quality sport and this is something we hope to have happen every year."
Melbourne Storm's Ryan Hinchcliffe and former Canberra Raiders player Bradley Clyde were in Albury for the official announcement.
