This week we go back less than 12 months and remember the Green Machine’s triumph over the Cronulla Sharks in the 2012 Elimination Final at Canberra Stadium.
2012 was an interesting year for the Raiders. The Green Machine started slowly winning just four of their opening 12 games and sat in second last place on the ladder at the halfway point of the season.
However, a round 14 win against Newcastle marked the start of a great revival with Canberra winning nine of their last 12 regular season games to qualify for the finals in sixth place.
Under the newly adopted finals format, the Raiders earned the right to play a sudden death home final against the Sharks who had limped into the finals in seventh position after occupying a top four spot for most of the season.
