[Don] Furner said he wouldn’t put pressure on the NRL to ban Ferguson from joining another club.
“That’s their job, so we’ll move ahead with this weekend’s game and some recruiting in the off-season,” Furner said.
“They deal with registrations and de-registrations.”
The Raiders board met for an hour and a half at Canberra Stadium on Friday morning before the decision was made.
Furner described Ferguson’s departure as a real shame after joining the Raiders from the Cronulla Sharks in 2011.
“No one gets any pleasure out of this,” Furner said.
