Raiders Holden Cup team building for the finals

The Canberra Raiders Under 20s will be out to further assert their premiership credentials when they take on the Melbourne Storm at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

The Raiders still sit on top of the Holden Cup ladder after registering an 18-12 win over St George Illawarra last weekend. However, it wasn’t easy as the weary Raiders were pushed to the limit by the 11th placed Dragons who actually led 6-4 at half time.

“It’s always a tough trip down to Wollongong, all the boys across the board felt very lethargic and it showed in that first 15 minutes,” Raiders coach, Mick Mantelli said.

“We were trying hard but there were little lapses in concentration that hurt us. To our credit we defended really hard on our line and it was four tries to two but we were well below our best.

“This week we’re looking for a better start. We want to remain unbeaten at home and we are now beginning to build for the finals.”
