Rising star Paul Vaughan has received recognition for his stellar debut year in the NRL by being awarded the Don Elphick Medallion for Rookie of the Year at the recent Les McIntyre Medal presentation night for the Canberra Region Rugby League.
The award honours a local junior from the Canberra region who has come through the grades with the Raiders.
Past winners of the awards have been players of the ilk of Terry Campese , Mark McClinden, Joel Monaghan and Luke Priddis whilst Vaughan’s close friends Mark Nicholls and Sam Williams have also won the award over the past two years.
The award is a due reflection for not only the Gungahlin Bulls junior’s efforts in graduating to first grade, but for his admirable performances and development in a tough year for the Green Machine.
