Sadly, last Sunday morning’s lazy league read was soured by the news of Malcolm Young’s passing – the unsung AC/DC guitarist whose thumping chords struck with the ferocity of a Trevor Gillmeister shoulder. Radio and television were quick to reignite spirits pounding out tunes from a cracking catalogue that stretches all the way back to […]

National Rugby League News / Canada women's RLWC17 centre's bite charge
« Last post by RNA on Today at 03:56:31 AM »
Canada's Janai Haupapa on Thursday will learn her fate over a biting charge after her side's controversial 88-0 loss to Australia at the women's Rugby League World Cup.

Haupapa was charged with grade B contrary conduct after being accused of biting by Jillaroos co-captain Renae Kunst in Australia's record win over the Ravens on Wednesday at Sydney's Southern Cross Group Stadium.

Haupapa can enter an early guilty plea and accept a two-match ban, which would rule her out of the rest of the tournament including Sunday's semi-final against Australia.

National Rugby League News / Storm crazy not to look at Pearce: Smith
« Last post by RNA on Today at 03:56:30 AM »
Melbourne captain Cameron Smith believes the NRL club would be crazy not to join the chase for uncontracted halfback Mitchell Pearce to wear their vacant No.7 jumper.

Pearce is without a club next season after this week being granted a release from the Sydney Roosters following their recruitment of former Storm halfback Cooper Cronk.

Cronk ended 14 years at the Storm last month with a premiership, however Smith warmed to the idea of Pearce coming back the other way.

National Rugby League News / Bremner nears Jillaroos league WCup return
« Last post by RNA on Today at 03:56:30 AM »
Australian star Sam Bremner is expected to make her first appearance of the women's Rugby League World Cup in Sunday's semi-final showdown against Canada.

Coach Brad Donald wouldn't be drawn on whether he would select his first-choice fullback for next week's final if she failed to get a game under her belt before then.

The 25-year-old has been forced to watch from the stands during the Jillaroos' group-stage wins over the Cook Islands, England and Canada after injuring her leg in a training mishap.

And then there were four. Yes, after three weeks of pool games and a round of quarter-finals, we’re starting to see the separation of boys and men occur right before our very eyes. The first semi-final on Friday in Brisbane will see tournament favourites Australia take on giant-killers Fiji. After going down to the Australians […]
