National Rugby League News / Garvey determined to take third NRL chance
« Last post by RNA on Today at 11:52:52 AM »
Craig Garvey thought he was destined for the Queensland Cup until being given a NRL reprieve by Ricky Stuart in Canberra.

In the space of a few days, Garvey signed with the Raiders and the hooking spot became vacant as star Josh Hodgson injured his knee playing in the World Cup.

The No.9 is still up for grabs, with Stuart trying Garvey, Siliva Havili and Aidan Sezer in the role during the Raiders' trial game against his former team Canterbury last Saturday.

Former Canterbury and St George Illawarra player Craig Garvey could be the one to fill the massive hole left by Josh Hodgson at No.9 for Canberra this year.

Since last year's dispiriting 13th-placed finish, Kearney has taken drastic action in Auckland, seeing more than 10 players off and coaxing established winners - such as Adam Blair, Tohu Harris, Blake Green and fitness guru Alex Corvo - across the ditch.

Ahead of a permanent shift to the forwards, the former Queensland winger has been offered no guarantees by coach Wayne Bennett.
