National Rugby League News / Bennett downplays grilling over rival BBQ
« Last post by RNA on Today at 02:33:06 PM »
Wayne Bennett prefers sausages over a steak and doesn't even own a barbecue.

But that hasn't stopped the Brisbane coach's grilling habits from becoming the latest chapter in the soap opera surrounding his future and reportedly fractured relationship with club chief executive Paul White.

Ahead of Thursday's NRL clash with South Sydney, the Broncos mentor gave his side of the story after reports surfaced that players, led by captain Darius Boyd, had opted to dine at his house instead of attending White's club function last Friday.

National Rugby League News / Barrett to start for Blacks, says Foley
« Last post by RNA on Today at 02:14:27 PM »
Wallabies playmaker Bernard Foley has no doubt he will be opposing Beauden Barrett in Saturday's Bledisloe Cup series opener, saying the All Blacks are merely playing "internal mind games" around their team selection.

Barrett's starting spot has come into question, with calls for Crusaders five-eighth Richie Mo'unga to be handed the No.10 jumper after guiding his side to back-to-back Super Rugby titles.

But Foley is having none of it, believing it's crazy to suggest New Zealand's reigning world player of the year won't be calling the shots once again at ANZ Stadium.

National Rugby League News / Gus opens up about Barrett to Penrith rumours
« Last post by RNA on Today at 02:14:24 PM »
Penrith boss Phil Gould has remained adamant that Trent Barrett will not be heading to the Panthers to take over as coach following reports he would quit Manly at the end of the season.

The maelstrom surrounding the coaching ranks in the NRL gathered more momentum on Tuesday following speculation that Barrett would leave the Sea Eagles with another year still to run on his contract over a lack of personnel and resources.

Barrett cut short his time as an assistant coach at the Panthers to replace Geoff Toovey at Manly, and the rumour mill has been in overdrive that he will return to the foot of the mountains as part of a package deal with his assistant and former Penrith legend John Cartwright.

National Rugby League News / Panthers still not in market for Barrett
« Last post by RNA on Today at 02:14:24 PM »
Penrith will not target Trent Barrett to replace the axed Anthony Griffin as head coach regardless of his future at Manly.

Barrett has reportedly resigned and will finish up at the Sea Eagles at the end of the season, with the club expected to clarify his position later on Wednesday.

Barrett was an assistant and under-20s coach at the Panthers under Ivan Cleary between 2013 and 2015, and his name has continuously been linked back to the club this season.
