South Sydney are using their preliminary final struggles as motivation as prop Mark Nicholls prepares to play his part in shutting down Manly talisman Tom Trbojevic. The Rabbitohs' preliminary final against the Sea Eagles at Lang Park on Friday will be the fourth time in a row they've reached the preliminary final stage as they look to break through for their first NRL grand final since 2014. They've stumbled at the penultimate hurdle three years in a row, but are looking to turn that around in coach Wayne Bennett and captain Adam Reynolds' final season at the club. Nicholls said they were a different group to the past three seasons. "We haven't really spoken about it too much internally - I guess everyone's aware of it so there's no need to address it," he said.

The Canberra Raiders are proud to have continued their community support during the 2021 season, in another year that has been affected by the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lockdowns in NSW and the ACT saw the Raiders relocated to Queensland for their final four home matches of the season, however the Club continued to support the local and rugby league communities throughout the entire 2021 season.

The Club’s 50/50 Charity Raffle program which supported 12 charities throughout the season during Raider’s home matches was able to raise almost $50,000, while the Club still managed to spend over 500 hours in the community and donated over $30,000 worth of merchandise and memorabilia for various organisations during 2021.

These numbers reflect the Clubs ongoing efforts to remain connected to the community, despite the challenges faced with COVID restrictions.

During the season the Raiders were able to engage in person in a limited capacity, with 15 junior club visits and several face-to-face interactions facilitated before restrictions were tightened.

“It’s been a tough two years for everyone in our local community and the Raiders are proud to have been able to continue their community involvement despite the challenges faced during the ongoing pandemic,” Ms Williams said. “We thrive on the support and connection to the Raiders community, whether that be in the ACT or the surrounding regional areas and it’s been wonderful to see this spirit continue in 2021.”

“Some of our charity partners and community groups have needed our support more than ever this year and through initiatives like the 50/50 Charity Raffle and the Raiders Foundation, we’ve been able to provide that ongoing support.”
