The Canberra Raiders suffered a disappointing 44-6 loss to the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday night at GIO Stadium.
The Raiders started the night off strong with some powerful sets forcing some strong field position. Origin performer Josh Papalii led the way from the middle creating some opportunities for the men in green with multiple offloads.
But it was the Titans who were first to look to score when winger Phillip Sami made a dash downfield, but a great cover tackle by Dunamis Lui saved the Raiders from any trouble.
A six-again penalty on the line in the next play against the Raiders gave the Titans a greater opportunity to attack. Titans forward David Fifita crashed through opening the scoring for the evening at 6-0 after a successful conversion.
With 10 minutes to go in the first half Titans try scorer, David Fifita was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes for unnecessary contact on Sam Williams.
Despite being one man down, the Titans were able to break through the middle giving themselves another chance to attack the line.
Capitalising on the field position, forward Kevin Proctor was able to find the line extending the Titans lead to 10-0.
Just minutes later the Titans found the line once again, this time it was a scoot and spin from dummy half by Moeaki Fotuaika which made it 16-0.
