Queanbeyan Kangaroos (5) v Belconnen United Scholars (2) on Saturday at 3:00pm at Freebody Oval

In Queanbeyan Kangaroos Coach Aaron Gorrell’s four year tenure at the club he’s seen it all; Grand Final wins and Grand Final losses and both of these two extremes have been shared with their adversaries this Saturday, the Belconnen United Scholars.

The Kangaroos defeated the Scholars 41-16 in 2010 whist Belconnen United squared the ledger last year when they defeated Queanbeyan 38-26.

“There is always a bit of feeling when we play each other,” said Gorrell. “They’ve been up there with us for the four years that I’ve been here and it’s always a great game when we meet. We know that we’ll have to be at our best against the Scholars to compete.”

Scholars Coach John Hawke agreed that the two sides have certainly developed a strong rivalry over the last couple of years and one that is punctuated by a high degree of mutual respect.

Hawke will be particularly primed for the clash given that Queanbeyan defeated Belconnen United 30-22 in round one.
