Raiders V Eels Head to Head
« on: July 18, 2013, 04:54:49 PM »
HEAD TO HEAD: Played 47 - Raiders 23, Eels 24
LAST TIME: Round 10, 2012  Raiders 40-34[/li]
MISSING IN ACTION: No fresh injury concerns for either side meaning they have stuck with the same 17 that played in their last match. Livewire Anthony Milford remains at full-back for Canberra who are unlikely to get Blake Ferguson back yet despite the pacy back pleading not guilty to indecent assault in court during the week. Still no Chris Sandow for the Eels who will spend his second week in succession out of the top squad.

FORM: The Raiders snapped a two-game losing streak in their last match with a vital win over North Queensland. After an inconsistent start to the season, David Furner's troops are now up to 10th but level on points with four other teams all the way up to sixth spot. But their points differential is the worst of all the sides chasing a top-eight berth so a big win over the tackle-shy Eels would be a huge boost.[/li]
Parramatta showed a lot more fight in their clash with western Sydney rivals Penrith last weekend but it wasn't enough to get the points, going down 17-10. It's now seven losses in a row for the Blue and Golds, who endured more upheaval during the week with CEO Ken Edwards punted. They remain four points adrift of the Dragons in 15th spot and are running out of time to avoid a second consecutive wooden-spoon finish.

WE THINK: It's hard to see anything but a (massive) Canberra win here. The Eels can make all the back-room changes and personnel swaps they want but they simply aren't up to first-grade standard at present. There's talk a cold snap could see snow fall at Canberra Stadium and the reception they will get from the home side will be just as frosty with their desperate need for a win. The Raiders have won their past 12 games at home and unless there is a huge form reversal, the streak will be preserved further. Raiders by 16
