Raiders players still upset about Bateman's departure

The Daily Telegraph’s Paul Kent believes John Bateman's departure was the start of the problems at the Raiders.

“Letting John Bateman go was the beginning of the end,” he said.

“John Bateman brought more to the club than just his talent. He was an unorthodox player but he had a will to win that you could photograph. It was tremendous. And it rubbed off on everybody in the joint.

“When he left he took more than just his talent and it was a nasty way that he left. The residue of that is still at the club and the players that were so close to him are still at the club and are still upset by what happened.”
