The Huawei Canberra Raiders have consolidated their place in the NRL’s top eight with an impressive 24-12 win over the Penrith Panthers tonight at Canberra Stadium.
The Green Machine were in control throughout the entire 80 minutes with the Panthers unable to deal with the home side’s enthusiastic attacking game.
Recent Origin debutant Blake Ferguson opened the scoring when he beat Penrith winger Travis Robinson to a Terry Campese bomb to touch down adjacent to the posts. Raiders centre Jarrod Croker converted for a 6-0 lead after five minutes.
The Raiders were in again 10 minutes later when fullback Reece Robinson crossed on the back of a Canberra scrum win 10 metres out from the Penrith line. Croker was successful again with the boot and the Raiders led 12-0.
