Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash is disappointed not to have secured the signing of Canberra Raiders skipper Terry Campese.
A deal had been agreed with Campese, 30, but red-tape administrative issues, have prevented him playing super League in 2015.
Campese is also an Italian passport holder but a move to Super League is a non starter yet Koukash insists the club did all they could to secure his signature.
Koukash told MEN Sport: ‘‘Terry would have been a fantastic signing for us and terms were agreed. We spent the weekend trying to complete a deal but it is not possible and that is disappointing.
‘‘We wanted Terry to come in an provide cover at hooker and lock. He would have been another excellent signing but these things happen.’’
