Round 15 Tips

Here’s our previews and tips for all the Round 14 matches. Have you done your tips yet? Leave them in the comments below for those who are still deciding.

Friday June 19 Manly Sea-Eagles v Wests Tigers Brookvale Oval, 7.45pm (All times local time)

The Tigers stunned the reigning premiers last week recording a thumping 34-6 win. The win was indicative of their season thus far, very inconsistent, but very good when they turn it on, but it could prove to be a turning point in their season. The Sea Eagles need a win desperately to try to get off the bottom and will come out firing in front of their home crowd. But given the Tigers impressive win last week, they will ride that wave of confidence and get another important win this week.

Saturday June 20 Canberra Raiders v North Queensland Cowboys GIO Stadium, 3.00pm

The Cowboys are equal top of the ladder after a brilliant season thus far. The Raiders have been more up and down, but equally as impressive when they do win, with the most points scored for the season, including a huge 56 point game against the Gold Coast in round nine. Despite the Raiders playing at home, and recording another big win last week, it’s hard to go past North Queensland.

Gold Coast Titans v New Zealand Warriors Cbus Super Stadium, 5.30pm

The Titans have a terrible injury list, but have somehow managed to win enough games to find themselves in the top eight. The Warriors sit just outside the eight, but have been much improved the past few weeks, particularly the first half against the Roosters last week. Tough one to pick, but we’re going with the Titans given the home ground advantage and their two game winning streak giving them more momentum and confidence than the Warriors.

Canterbury Bulldogs v Penrith Panthers ANZ Stadium, 7.30pm

Interestingly, Penrith have less wins than the Bulldogs, yet sit above the Bulldogs on the ladder, due to the bye rounds. The Panthers have lost their last two and been decimated by injuries this season. The Bulldogs should prove too strong at home.

Sunday June 21 Newcastle Knights V Cronulla Sharks Hunter Stadium, 2.00pm

The Knights were looking good early in the season, but have now lost their past three and eight of their past nine. The Sharks have won three of their past five and have found some form. They should get the job done against a badly out of form Knights outfit at home.

Melbourne Storm v Brisbane Broncos AAMI Park, 4.00pm

The Storm have lost Billy Slater for the rest of the year, which will obviously be a huge loss. However, Melbourne has won the past eight against the Broncos and 17 of the past 20 since 2006. Melbourne lost to Parramatta last week, but were without their Origin stars. The Storm has also won 14 of 17 matches against the Broncos in Melbourne. Top of the table Brisbane might just be too hard to tip given that record against the Storm.

Monday June 22 St George Illawarra Dragons v Sydney Roosters Allianz Stadium, 7.00pm

Third and fifth on the ladder promises to be a great contest. The Roosters have won three of four and recorded a character building come from behind win against the Warriors last week. But the Dragons should be refreshed after the bye and we’re tipping them to just get the points here.
