Round 21 Tips Friday July 31 Sydney Rooster v Canterbury Bulldogs Allianz Stadium, 7.35pm

Both sides have a lot to play for, with the Roosters a chance of claiming a top two spot at season’s end. The Bulldogs narrowly lost last week to the Sharks but should still make the finals, and a win tonight would go a long away to securing a top eight spot for the Bulldogs. But the Roosters should have too much fire power and be too strong at Allianz.

Wests Tigers v Melbourne Storm Leichhardt Oval, 7.35pm The Storm have been impressive the last two weeks after managing to overturn a poor run of form. The Tigers are anchored to the bottom and won’t find any joy here against a Storm side who are back in the hunt for a top four birth.

Saturday August 1 New Zealand Warriors v Cronulla Sharks Mt Smart Stadium, 3.00pm

Should be a close game, with just one win separating these two sides on the ladder, but the Warriors have lost their past two and struggled of late. The Sharks are on the up and should get the points.

North Queensland Cowboys v Canberra Raiders 1300 Smiles Stadium, 5.30pm

The Raiders will be full of energy as they look to make a push for the top eight. But they are unlikely to be able to beat the Cowboys, who recorded a 46-4 win last week against the Eels.

Manly Sea Eagles v Brisbane Broncos Central Coast Stadium, 7.30pm

The Sea Eagles are still a very sneaky chance of getting into the finals. But their slim chances will be dealt a blow this week when the top of the table Broncos record another win. Brisbane has conceded 24 over the past three weeks, compared to Manly’s 48.

Sunday August 2 St George Illawarra Dragons v Newcastle Knights The Knights are a club in crisis, after suffering a 52-6 defeat to against the Rabbitohs last week, before sacking coach Rick Stone. The Dragons have lost their past seven are desperately need a win and they might just be in luck this week against Newcastle.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v Penrith Panthers The Rabbitohs score line looked more like an Australian cricket team batting collapse than an NRL game, such was their dominance last week. They won’t find it quite as easy this week, but they will record another a win nonetheless. The Panthers quest is made harder due to some crippling injuries.

Monday August 3 Gold Coast Titans v Parramatta Eels Cbus Super Stadium

With the NRL struggling with crowds on Monday nights, it’s a shame this week sees 13th take on 15th in what might be a fairly lacklustre affair. Both sides were absolutely belted last week, so hopefully they will be fired up and ready to rectify their recent poor showing. Flip of the coin for this one, but we’re going with the Titans at home, just.
