Raiders named in Queensland squadCanberra Raiders winger Daniel Vidot is in the hunt for his maiden representative jersey after catching the eye of Queensland selectors.
Vidot and Raiders teammate David Shillington were this afternoon included in the Maroons' 25-man squad for next month's series opener in Brisbane.
Vidot faces stiff competition to break into the all-conquering Queensland team, with Justin Hodges, Greg Inglis, Willie Tonga and Darius Boyd all retained in the star-studded backline.
Brisbane Broncos young gun Jharal Yow Yeh has also been given the nod.
Shillington is hopeful of retaining his spot in a powerful front row.
Ageless veteran Petero Civoniceva, Cowboys enforcer Matt Scott and Bulldogs prop Ben Hannant are among the other contenders.
Queensland chairman of selectors Des Morris was satisfied with the squad at his disposal.
"These are the guys who are performing well at the moment and are in the picture," Morris said.
"Obviously if we get a couple of injuries we might have to go outside the squad but as it stands now this is the group of players in the mix.
"By naming the squad today it provides an incentive for some of the players who have been on the fringe of Origin selection.''
The Australian team for next week's Test match against New Zealand and the teams for the City v Country clash will be named on Sunday night.
