The Woden Rams have kept their slim finals hopes alive with a 50-16 demolition of top of the ladder Queanbeyan Blues at Phillip Oval on Saturday.

The Blues entered the round three points clear at the top of the Canberra Raiders Cup competition and would have expected a better result against a side languishing three points from the bottom.

Raiders star David Milne was the star in Woden’s performance, scoring three tries in his side’s 34 point win.

Woden looked dangerous early in the match, racing to a 34-0 lead by halftime. The Blues came out stronger in the second half to score three tries to get on the board.

But a miracle Blues win was put to bed with three more Woden tries to secure victory for the home side.

It was the Rams sixth win of 2011, and was consolation following their 50-20 loss to the Blues earlier in the year.

The Queanbeyan Blues have now lost three of their last four matches and are looking far from comfortable with the finals less than four weeks away.

Woden have the week off next round with the bye, while Queanbeyan will take on second placed Scholars in a top of the table clash at Northbourne Oval.
