Queanbeyan Kangaroos' premiership dream lives on

THE Queanbeyan Kangaroos have progressed through to the Canberra Raiders Cup preliminary-final after defeating the Goulburn Bulldogs 18-14 at Seiffert Oval this afternoon.

The victory keeps the Kangaroos’ dream of back-to-back titles alive after the side’s finals campaign had looked dead in the water less than two months ago.

Queanbeyan had to come from behind twice before finally coming home over the top of a tenacious but uninspired Goulburn side.

A try to replacement centre Ryan Jones with 11 minutes to go proving the difference as the Kangaroos weathered a late Bulldogs rally.

Goulburn was without regular halves Mick Picker and Mitch Cornish for the clash and was always going to struggle but showed plenty of resolve in the face of a flat Roos outfit.

Queanbeyan will take on the loser of next weekend’s major semi-final between cross-town rivals the Queanbeyan Blues and the Belconnen United Scholars for a spot in the grand final.
