The NRL is on the verge of a possible sanction on a Canberra Raiders trainer under scrutiny for putting his hand on a Penrith player and confronting another during an on-field melee. NRL head of football Graham Annesley says the incident, which occurred in the 65th minute of Canberra's clash with Penrith last Friday night, is being investigated for a possible breach of NRL operational rules. A Canberra trainer in a club shirt and cap placed his hand on Panther Tyrone May and confronted James Fisher-Harris, before the pair were separated by Jack Wighton. The Raiders have opted not to name the trainer, while section 8.8.
