CAN the Kangaroos secure an historic ‘‘threepeat’’ in the Canberra Raiders Cup and will the Blues manage to turn a paper powerhouse into a championship side?
The Kangaroos enjoyed a magical run to the premiership last season but it’s hard to imagine how any side could repeat such a fairytale performance two years running. Both the Blues and beaten preliminary-finalists the Belconnen Scholars will be gunning for revenge in 2012 and one of those two teams will deny the Roos a third-straight title.
The Blues spent big in 2011, fielded the competition’s best side and still came up short. This year, the club’s hopes will hinge on who it can produce to fill the hole left by retired five-eighth Justin Giteau. Odds are the Blues will again splash some cash to find a suitable replacement and will, at the very least, challenge come finals time once again.
