Yass Magpies 50 Tuggeranong Bushrangers 26
The Yass Magpies have made it three wins from as many games with a 50-26 drubbing of the Tuggeranong Bushrangers.

The Magpies have had the perfect start to the season and are one of, if not the form side of the Canberra Raiders Cup at present.

They will enjoy a well deserved rest next week with the bye after their nine tries to five victory.

This was Tuggeranong’s first loss for the season and see’s the Bushrangers slip to fifth on the ladder.

Belconnen United Sharks 60 West Belconnen Warriors 18
The local derby between Belconnen United Scholars and West Belconnen Warriors resulted in a similarly one sided score line with the Scholars running away victors 60 points to 18.

Former NRL player Brent Crisp continued his good form for the Scholars by collecting 22 points from two tries and seven goals.

Scholars Coach John Hawke believes Crisp’s professional experience has been a thoroughly positive experience for his side both on and off the field.

“It’s definitely great seeing those guys with NRL experience coming to the competition. Brent Crisp played his first game last weekend and his NRL experience has had a massive influence on the side.”

The heavy loss suffered by the Warriors see’s them slump to outright last on the ladder.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 34 Woden Valley Rams 22
Although both sides have already enjoyed the bye so far this year, local rivals Queanbeyan Kangaroos and Queanbeyan Blues have continued their undefeated start to the year.

Mitchell Barbara did his best for the Rams, running in a hat-trick of tries and kicking a lone goal for a personal haul of 14 points, whilst Roos Captain-Coach Aaron Gorrell was again influential for the defending premiers, registering 14 points and being a constant menace around the ruck area for Woden.

The Roos currently sit at first place on the ladder due to for and against.

Queanbeyan Blues 36 Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 18
Meanwhile, the Blues outclassed the Bulldogs seven tries to four in their affair at Goulburn Workers Arena.

Bulldogs lock Daniel York said his side struggled to contend with the Blues dangerous halves pairing. Both halves’ ability dictate proceedings and successfully combine allowed the Blues ample opportunities to threaten Goulburn on the edges.

“With their halves directing play well their forwards were able to get a roll on and it felt like we were constantly on the back-foot for the majority of the game.”
“Their ball movement was really good and once they got a roll on through the middle they were able to make breaks on our edges.”

“Our ball control let us down in the end. We had a simple game plan but it’s only effective if you complete the majority of your sets, which we weren’t doing and the Blues were able to effectively capitalise on our mistakes.”
