Woolford to take reins at QueanbeyanFormer Raiders captain Simon Woolford will return to the coaching ranks of the Canberra Raiders Cup next year when he takes over at the Queanbeyan Blues.
Last year's runners-up have decided to go in a new direction after they were knocked out of the competition last week, going down to the Yass Magpies in the minor semi-final.
Incumbent coach Adam Doyle put his hand up to continue for another season, but the Blues elected not to renew his one-year contract.
The Blues struggled to recapture their form of last year, scraping into the finals in fourth spot on the table before bowing out to the Magpies.
It will be Woolford's second stint in the Canberra competition after co-coaching the Gungahlin Bulls in 2010.
