Ryan: Team Morale Is Outstanding

St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team five-eighth Todd Ryan admits the atmosphere around camp is ‘outstanding’ following the 46-20 elimination finals win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park on Friday.

The Red-and-Whites sealed safe passage over the Minor Premiers and progress on to the preliminary finals courtesy of Adam Quinlan's trifecta, two tries each by of Nathan Green and Blake Phillips as well Craig Garvey’s earlier effort

“It’s an awesome feeling and the morale around the team is outstanding,” said Ryan.

“The boys are happy and know that they have to keep putting in these types of performances.

“We were positive at halftime and not wanting to get complacent as we had been run down by sides in previous weeks but we scored first and just ran on from there.”

Young Dragons winger Kyle Martens had similar sentiments on the win which has now booked the Red-and-Whites with a showdown against the Canberra Raiders at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Saturday.

“It feels really good but for me personally it’s a new experience as we didn’t quite get there this time last season,” said Martens.

“You spend all pre-season with the boys and become family in a sense experiencing the highs and lows so its good when it all comes together in the finals.”
