Cowboys NYC team named for RaidersFormer Cairns Kangaroos junior Mitchell Grimes will become the ninth Cowboy to make his NYC debut this season when North Queensland hosts Canberra at 1300SMILES Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The 19-year-old five-eighth/lock forward has been included on the interchange bench by coach Todd Wilson as the Cowboys look to end a three-game losing streak in the under-20s competition.
An Australian under-15s representative who joined the Cowboys at the end of 2012, Grimes has been playing for Norths in the Townsville A-grade competition so far this season.
Back-rower Kieran Quabba, who debuted against Brisbane in round six, has been promoted to the NQ starting team for the first time, while South African-born front-rower Halvor Harris has overcome a knee infection to gain his first call-up for 2013.
Forwards Andrew Niemoeller and PJ Webb are the omissions from the team that lost by two points against the Broncos.
Saturday’s match will be televised live on Fox Sports 1.
