Canberra's injury-ravaged forward pack is poised to receive a major boost, with David Shillington and Josh Papalii tipped to return against Newcastle on Sunday.
The star duo's availability is crucial after Tom Learoyd-Lahrs (ankle), Glen Buttriss (compound fracture, calf) and Joe Picker (concussion) all were hurt in Saturday night's win in Melbourne.
After initial fears he may have broken his foot, Learoyd-Lahrs is believed to have escaped with nerve damage, with scan results to be revealed on Monday.
But the unlucky Buttriss could be sidelined for some time with a nasty finger injury he picked up early against the Storm. The hooker also believes he may have torn his calf, which forced him from the field after bravely playing on with a broken right middle finger.
