Canberra Raiders Cup Round 14 Preview: Gungahlin V Goulburn
« on: August 02, 2013, 01:25:56 PM »
Gungahlin Bulls (7) v Goulburn Workers Bulldogs (6) on Saturday at 3:00pm at Raiders Belconnen

Goulburn’s finals chances are looking grim, however Captain Daniel York has stated that the club will be heading into the final two rounds of the year with the aim of playing finals football.

The Bulldogs are sitting in sixth place on the ladder and will be relying on not only themselves to win their remaining two games, but for Tuggeranong and Woden to lose both of their encounters.

“We know that we’re behind the eight-ball at the moment but we’re not going to throw in the towel when there’s still a glimmer of hope that we’ll be playing finals footy,” York said.

“We’ve got too much respect for each other and too much pride in the jersey to just give up now.”
Goulburn will be confident of victory against Gungahlin after demolishing the Bulls 44-16 in round six.

Gungahlin was right in the contest at halftime, trailing marginally 10-6, however a disappointing second half effort was their downfall.

Gungahlin has zero chance of making the finals this year although Captain-Coach Josh Ayres and his side will be looking to finish the season on a high note, in a year marking the Bulls’ 20th anniversary.
