Toyota Cup Round 22 Full Time Report: Knights v Raiders

The Newcastle Knights have kept their finals hopes alive with a 24-8 win over the Canberra Raiders at Ausgrid Stadium today.

With the Raiders dominating the ball play early in the first half, the Knights were forced to repeatedly defend their line.

Despite some sloppy ball play the Knights found themselves with the first points on the board after star forward Korbin Sims out muscled the defence to put the ball down under the posts.

Tyler Sullivan converted to give the Knights an early six-point lead.

Some clever passing down the right wing saw Mark Tuaati cross with nine minutes left in the first half, 6-4.

Sims crossed for his second, minutes into the second half, 12-4.

Another huge performance by Chad Redman saw the Knights put the ball down for their third try of the match.

Sullivan struck the ball perfectly to take the score to 18-4.

The Raiders hit back with a try to Ben Picker, 18-8.

With only four minutes left in the game the Chanel Mata’utia threw a huge to pass to brother, Pat to finalise the score at 24-8.
