Congratulations to the winner of the 2012 RNA player of the year award, Reece Robinson!
On the back of a stellar season for the Canberra Raiders in 2012, Reece Robinson has been awarded the RNA Raiders player of the year award after he won the most votes in a poll of Raiders fans conducted at the end of the season
After his 2012 season it's little wonder why fans have started calling Robinson "Reece Lightning" as he braught crowds to the edge of their seats with his nimble footwork and blistering speed. Finding the line seemed too easy at times for Reece and as a result he tied with Jarrod Croker as the Raiders' leading try scorer in 2012, picking up a total of 16 four pointers for the season.
However it was Robinson's versatility that was probably the most impressive part of his season, as when Josh Dugan was injured and then later moved to five-eight for a couple of games, Reece was called up by Raiders' coach David Furner to switch from the wing to cover for the superstar fullback. Filling the shoes of a player like Dugan is no easy task to say the least, but Robinson thrived in the new role which allowed him to showcase not only his footwork but silky ball skills too.
If picking up a hat trick against some of the NRL's top superstars in the All Stars match last week is anything to go by, 2013 will be another huge year for Robinson as he looks to continue his great run of form leading into the season.
Just like the 2011 award
