Josh McCrone V Josh Dugan - The tie breaker
« on: November 11, 2011, 02:25:12 PM »
It's the battle of Josh! :D

So we finally got a winner of our last man of the match award, but now we have a little problem! Josh McCrone and Josh Dugan now both sit on 5 man of the match awards each for the year, after McCrone managed to come from behind to clinch the last available award.

Now it's time for a good old fashioned tie breaker to decide the outright winner of the RNA Player of the Year!

Josh McCrone? Or Josh Dugan? The choice is yours. Vote now!  :great:

To vote, simply reply to this post with the surname of the Josh that you choose, either Dugan or McCrone.

I have just got to say it was a huge effort by Dugan to be able to play well enough to win 5 man of the match awards, considering how much of the year he missed with injury.

Also got to give a huge wrap to McCrone in 2011. He tried his guts out to lead us around and in my opinion was our most improved player in 2011 by a long stretch.

It's going to be hard to split these two...

Josh Dugan is our best player, but McCrone was close to our best all year. If you ask me Fensom should win the award and neither of these two because he is just a tireless workhorse but if it's between Dugan and McCrone then give it to McCrone because he doesn't get as many pats on the back as Dugan and he deserves some after his efforts in 2011.

Would have said Josh dugan but I dont think he played enough to be considered for player of the year. Can we award an MVP award to Dugan instead because he is that for our team? Anyway McCrone tried very hard all season even if it didnt always come off so he deserves 100% for effort.

My vote has to go to McCrone. I thought he had an outstanding season considering how badly we went last year. Sure he made plenty of mistakes but he also showed great improvement and effort. Injury killed Dugan's season unfortunately, if it hadn't I get the feeling he would have won this award outright without the need for this tie-breaker.

Dugan gets mine for providing the best Raiders moment of 2011, that try at the end of the Dragons game was something very special.

Dont forget it was McCrone who was brave enough to put that kick in which Dugan scored off. A bit hard to give it to Dugan based on that play when McCrone was so crucial to it coming off if you ask me.

Mccrone player of the year? Are you serious? He made a few good plays all year that shouldnt earnn someone an award.

Dugan on the other hand barely played all year! How can he get it if he played like twice?

Why shouldnt Mccrone win it? Sure he was not perfect but none of us were and he had the hardest job out there without Campo and with inexperienced Williams or over the hill Orford next to him. It is a season like the one Mc has just had that can be the making of a great player. I thought he was our shining light in a very bad year.

When Duges played he was better. McCrone showed great signs of improvement but not player of the year stuff.

 :iagree:

Even though I voted Dugan I thought McCrone did have a break-through year. Limestone could be right on the money about it being the making of him.

Very true, but only Joshy Dugan would have scored that try. It was a gutsy kick but Dugan put in that little bit of extra effort to beat the Drags to it. Watch the replay of that game too and you will see that after Soward kicked their field goal it was Dugan who sprinted back to half way while pointing at their try line. I dont know exactly what he was saying but Im sure it was something along the lines of "GET UP THEIR BOYS WE CAN STILL WIN IT". That was his attitude. it was inspiring and it rubbed off on the rest of the team and I dare say gave McCrone the confidence to go through with that final play to win it. Really both of the Joshes in question here deserve a massive pat on the back for that win.
